@Home Childcare was founded as an innovative response to a local issue
@Home Childcare was established in 2005 by its founder and C.E.O., Yvette Oliver-Mighten. The company was formed as a solution for parents needing flexible, responsive childcare for parents to fit in with their working hours.
In December 2015, we registered with Ofsted as a childminder agency. We became Orange Moon Childcare. The agency operates as quality assured community for professional childminders, whom we call home early educators (educators for short).
Working in the interest of communities
The newly registered childminder agency was an opportunity to create a social enterprise called Orange Moon Childcare Community Interest Company t/a @Home Childcare which afforded our social mission. Our two main social objectives are:
- Improve access for suitable people wishing to set up home-based early education businesses by removing barriers to entry;
- Enable more families to benefit from the unique care and early education home-based childcare can offer.
We are passionate about empowering suitable people to fulfill their dream of setting up and running a high quality childcare service at home. In turn, providing families with stimulating, nurturing childcare that children can enjoy and thrive.
We are committed to providing the highest standards of service for both educators and families.
We support measures which ultimately improves the quality and professionalism of home-based childcare. That’s why we are here, to give children the best possible experiences by supporting and training our home-based professionals.
We take our safeguarding children responsibilities seriously. It is a top priority for us. As Ofsted cites in our 2020 report, “Safeguarding is effective and features high on the agency’s agenda. They are not afraid to refuse registration if they are not satisfied of an applicant’s suitability.”
Many of our educators undertake a nationally recognised qualification with us!
Our sister company, Orange Moon Training, is an approved provider of government training for early professionals and education support in schools. Much of our qualification training is funded including apprenticeships and pre-registration training for educators.
