Having done a lot of research online, the process of becoming a childminder educator was still very much vague. I knew that I didn’t want to do it by myself. I like the idea of joining an Ofsted childminder agency who would give me support. @Home Childcare appealed to me because they had a Full Support Service that, to be honest, sounded too good to be true! I didn’t realise the actual extent of their full support offer until I actually started receiving it.
Their full support package includes a start-up service that has everything you need to set up your business and to register as a childminder: pre-registration training, a tutor to help with the business planning coursework, policies, consent forms, business software, food safety, paediatric first aid, a website profile, marketing assistance and lots more. Too much to certainly list here!
@Home Childcare’s start-up training is extensive. As I did the training when some of the Covid restrictions had lifted, I managed to book their blended course which was a mixture of live webinars and face2face classroom training. The training was funded, and you get a tutor who supports you with your business planning. It’s basically everything you need to plan your childminder business properly. The focus is very much on having a professional business but also sustainable, so they gave me lots of support with the financial planning, setting my fees and how to ‘sell’ my childcare service. They even designed a logo for me which I love as it sums up my ethos.
DBS application was not as straight forward at all! I made several calls to ask the same questions about how to fill out the form and I still applied for the wrong service title. That is, until l joined @Home Childcare. They informed me of the exact information l needed to reapply for the right one.
What I love about the service is that there is always constant help, advice and questions answered. I had a whole team helping me starting my business- this is so crucial for small business starters. The priceless mentoring service was the highlight for me. The experienced team that have tested, tried and done it all before. I certainly do not want to imagine the failures, mistakes, and delay that I would have had to ensure. @Home Childcare’s support helped me avoid the mistakes.
The fee was minimal because of @Home Childcare’s funding. I was pleased to find out that I didn’t have to pay for the paediatric first aid training. That was a lovely surprise!
I recommend @Home Childcare to everyone that wants to start a childcare business. They make business initiation, planning, execution SIMPLY SIMPLE!
