About me
Caring for children is in my blood; it’s absolutely everything I have ever wanted to do and it’s what has driven me to become a registered childminder.
I had my first child at 16. Yes, I was a young mum and I loved it!
Being a mum and working with children is in my blood, my passion! Two years later I had my second child and got married to their dad. I loved been a full-time mum and missed my children when they went to school.
I began volunteering at their school, got an apprenticeship at a nursery and from there my career in the early years grew. I went from a practitioner, to deputy room leader, room leader and then moved to another nursery before becoming an assistant working alongside a childminder.
Becoming a childminder in Burringham and having my own home-based childcare business began as a dream and then after two years of research I finally decided to take the leap and Ohana was formed. Ohana is a Hawaiian word meaning family.
Our mission is to help promote happy, healthy, well-rounded independent children to form our next generation, and to get children outside in nature, having fun exploring the world around them.
As a registered childminder, we follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum and ensuring every child’s learning experience is fun and engaging. We want children to leave us for ‘big school’ with a love for learning that will set them on a pathway to success in later life.

Careful thought has gone into every part of the setting from the decor to the lighting, to enhance calming atmospheres or to encouraging sensory exploration.
Other features of my setting include:
- Climbing wall handmade from repurposed pallet
- Outdoor planting station
