Amanda Doku
About me
Hi, I’m Amanda. I have experience working with children, from babies to school age, and hold a degree in theology. I’m warm, patient, calm and approachable – parents often say I make them feel at ease leaving their children with me.
My core values are safety, kindness, and respect. I believe every child is unique, deserves to feel loved, secure, and happy, and should be supported to grow at their own pace, to help them build confidence and curiosity. I love caring for children in my home because it feels personal, relaxed, and like a family environment. I can give each child one-to-one attention, follow their interests, and create a real ‘home away from home’ where they feel comfortable and valued.
What I enjoy most is watching children learn, discover and grow – whether it’s their first words, new skills, or just seeing them laugh and enjoy playtime. Their energy, curiosity, and honesty make every day special and fun. What makes me different is my personal, flexible approach. I tailor everything to your child and your family’s needs, keep you fully updated every day, and create a loving, safe space where children feel truly cared for, not just looked after.

About my home setting
All @Home Childcare childminder settings are fully risk-assessed and inspected to ensure they are safe and suitable premises for children.
My home is bright, clean and warm. My setting is designed to feel like a welcoming ‘home away from home’. I’ve organised separate learning and play zones:
- Reading corner: Soft rug, cushions, and a big book collection for quiet story time and literacy.
- Home/role-play area: Play kitchen, dolls, dressing-up clothes, and shop sets to build imagination and social skills.
- Messy/creative zone: Easy-clean space for painting, drawing, playdough, crafts, and sensory play.
- Quiet/rest area: Comfy sofas and mats for naps, puzzles, or calm activities.
- Construction/learning space: Tables and floor area for building, counting, and early learning games.
- Toys & resources: Wide range covering all ages – building blocks, puzzles, shape sorters, musical instruments, vehicles, soft toys, science/nature items, and art supplies. All are age-appropriate, safe, and rotated regularly to keep play fresh and engaging.
