The Little Explorer's Daycare

Childminder in Humberstone, Leicester, (LE4)

About me

I’m a patient and energetic individual with 4+ years of experience in childcare. I have qualification in level 3 childcare. I pride myself on being calm under pressure and creating a warm, home-from-home environment.

My mission is to provide a safe nurturing space where very child feels seen and heard. I valley kindness, curiosity and outdoor play, ensuring that children develop social skills through respectful interaction. I believe the home environment offers a unique level of security and flexibility that larger settings can’t match. Transitioning to home-based care allows me to provide the one to one and structured routines that help children during their foundation years.I love seeing the world through a child’s eyes. There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing theat light-bulb moment when a child masters a new skill. I integrate healthy cooking lessons and loads of sensory play into our daily routine, along with following the EYFS curriculum ensuring a childs day is enriching and fun.

About my home setting

All @Home Childcare childminder settings are fully risk-assessed and inspected to ensure they are safe and suitable premises for children.

I have transformed my living room into a multi-sensory learning environment with dedicated areas to support different stages of development:

  • Reading Area: A cozy, quiet corner featuring a soft rug, comfortable cushions, and a wide variety of age-appropriate books to encourage a love for storytelling and early literacy.
  • Roleplay & Home Area: A dedicated “home corner” where children can use their imaginations to act out real-life scenarios, helping them develop social skills and empathy.
  • Construction Area: A space stocked with building blocks, tracks, and creative materials designed to improve fine motor skills and spatial awareness.
  • Mark-Making Area: A creative station equipped with various tools—from crayons and chalks to stencils—allowing children to explore early writing and artistic expression.
  • Range of Toys & Resources: Each area is equipped with a diverse range of high-quality toys and resources that are easily accessible to the children, promoting independent choice and play
  • Outdoor area: The outdoor area has a nice mud kitchen which children can use to roleplay and enjoy being messy and free, there is chalk available and a range of outdoor equipment.
  • Sensory Storytelling: I bring books to life by using physical props, different voices, and tactile objects that the children can touch and hold as we read together.
  • Creative Messy Play: We explore textures through safe materials like foam, edible finger paints, or cloud dough to build fine motor skills and curiosity.
  • Music and Movement: Daily yoga and dancing sessions using scarves, shakers, and action songs to help toddlers develop coordination, rhythm, and confidence.
  • Nature Treasure Hunts: We explore the garden or local parks to find natural items like smooth stones, crunchy leaves, or feathers, fostering an early love for the environment.
  • Baking & Food Prep: Simple, supervised kitchen activities like mashing bananas or washing vegetables to help children learn about healthy food and different textures.
  • Garden Den Building: Using blankets, pegs, and cushions outdoors to create “secret” spaces that encourage imaginative play and social interaction.
  • Little Gardeners: We spend time planting quick-growing seeds like sunflowers or cress, allowing children to experience the wonder of growing their own food.
