About me
Hello parents & carers, I am so happy to introduce my home-based childcare service, Lemondrop Kids!
I have 16 years experiences of being an Ofsted registered nanny to children from birth to 13 years of age, including twins. I get great satisfaction from seeing children grow, learn and having fun at the same time. This is what keeps me working in childcare!
Lemondrop was born out of my hobby business where I hand-make accessories for babies and children. Lemondrop is the mascot, a pale-yellow bear who pops up in all kinds of places where children are.
Over the years, I have realised children of all ages love Lemondrop. They enjoy caring for him e.g. tucking Lemondrop into bed, going on outings to parks and playing in the garden. They especially love imaginary play with Lemondrop e.g. getting him dressed to go outdoors or playing hide and seek. The bear is really a stimulus for imaginative, creative play through which children can learn human values such as sharing, respect, kindness, politeness, listening etc.
I am well organised, friendly trustworthy person who has lots of patience and understanding. I like to give children a sense of belonging. I enjoy encouraging children to be independent by allowing children to have a voice and make their own choices. This helps them to reach their development milestones and build confidence in everyday tasks and life skills, whilst preparing them for school. I always encourage children to ‘have a go’ with new things and to learn that everyone is different. As a craft enthusiastic, expect your children to go home feeling proud of their arty-crafty masterpieces!

Location
I am fortunate to live in an area with lots of green spaces to enjoy so children will have daily opportunities for woodlands (Shipley Park) and canal walks, as well as visiting local forest schools. We will also have regular visits to the local organised children’s play groups at libraries, music clubs and soft play.
Eastwood has good transport networks including buses to Derby and Nottingham. The M1 motorway (junctions 26 & 27) is also nearby.
About my home setting
My dining room has been transformed into a dedicated homely place for children to enjoy and learn in. I have a good range of stimulating toys and other resources for my children. There is also a reading corner with cushions and bean bags to make it comfy for little ones.
My garden is a safe, fully enclosed space for children to be. To enjoy various different toys outside, I have a tent and tunnel in which they can play on the grass in, as well as a paddling pool which can be used as a ball pit too. Planting, digging and growing is something I like to encourage in the garden.
I live with my partner and 2 cats, Pepper and Patch.
